And so that's how I got my 3 days MC... unfortunately, I wont be utilising all 3 days... What a bad year for me... haiz.. I'm really sick of falling sick...
But I must say ah, the GP I visited is really unpro manz.. First, all the nurses are not in medical gown nor wearing masks. They didn't measure temperature when patients come in. I wanted to clean my hand, but there's no soap in the toilet nor can I find sanitiser. The my number is 18, but the current number serving is 10... it's still a long way to go... so i told the nurse I've fever and slight cough, can let me see the doctor first or not. I dont want to spread to the many old people and young children in the clinic mah.. but the nurse told me to wait n gave me a filmsy mask instead.. in my heart i was screaming WTH!!!???
Imagine I really have H1N1 and when the reporters trace back the 24hrs prior to discovery of the illness.. then the others are gg to blame me for not taking precautions... just like how they blame the guy who had h1n1 and yet still took the nel to see doctor..
And some people are so damn irresponsible.. there's this guy sitting next to me in the clinic.. he was having a flu and yet not wearing a mask.. nvm.. he was reading TIMES and use his care hand to wipe his nose when fluid drips down his nose.. then he cont to read his magazine.. OMG!!! I almost tap his shoulder and said "Sir, can u go n get a mask from the nurse? u know u having flu n u're still so dirty.. eeks.. can u be more responsible to the people around u?"
first of all, i must say a big big THANK YOU to mr goh for providing me with this. was really v v touched by ur gesture at my lowest pt of the night. this made me realised that i actually hv so so much.
http://rvhs2j2001.blogspot.com/ this is a blog dedicated to Chee Wei Cheng, a fellow rvian. i read thru the comments left behind by pple who know him personally and through the news. most of his frens remember him as someone of v good nature, esp his smile.
i wonder... just wondering... what comments will be left behind in this blog if one day i am gone... *touch wood*... just a wonder...
well, here's the article from the column i enjoyed most in the mon Lifestyle section. pls pay special attn to the sms part. tat's v true rite? u dun send msg to frens out of the blue "meowing" or "i'm so full" unless maybe this fren has been doing so to all his/her frens... it's a way to get connected so that the person will, for that split second, remember u.
i've been having a bad memory.. so pls start sending me sms to remind me of u. on a side note, my hp has been gg ga ga.. pple send msg to me but i nv receive until a few hrs later... so... dunnoe la

B OY, do I love technology. I say this on account of my new alarm clock. I recently bought a new, technology-heavy alarm clock that allows me — this blew my mind — to determine the interval between me hitting the snooze button and the alarm sounding again. Armed with this powerful new feature, I was able, just a few days ago, to put in a record 22-minute snooze — a feat tech-less prehistoric man could only dream of. (The most prehistoric man could hope for was five minutes.)
But as wonderful as that is, it is not the only thing I love about technology. The other great thing is that it is developed by scientists. Why is this so great? Well, because a lot of scientists — and I say this with the utmost respect — are absolutely rubbish when it comes to picking up girls. I do not make this sweeping stereotypical generalisation without basis. (I make it without research.)
At one stage in my life, I spent four years pretending to study computer engineering and, as a result, hung around almost exclusively with such people. During that time, I witnessed on numerous occasions us science people crash and burn when putting on our smoothest moves. We would head back from our failures and console ourselves at our computers, working on something we hoped would help us score with the girls. It was at this stage of my life that I wrote a bit of software where pictures of this girl I was after would dance according to whatever music was playing. (I showed her this particular effort. We are not together.) But that is not the point. The point is we are working on it. And there are way smarter people than me out there failing with girls, which is to say some great things have been invented in the past for the sole purpose of trying to hook up. I dare say practically every major invention by a guy had something or other to do with a woman.
Just take the Internet, for example. Oh sure, the inventors might say it was designed for military communication, but those of us in the know understand that it was made to download naked pictures and chat up girls through MSN. But coming back to my tech-loving, I must say my favourite contribution of scientists to the dating game is the SMS message.
I came to a new heightened appreciation for the romantic role text messages play while at a dinner where a friend was grilled (not literally) over a love interest he was in denial about. We were getting nowhere as he hemmed and hawed, but we made a breakthrough with the question: How many SMS messages do you send to her a day? "About two or three," he said and that sent everyone into hysterics. It got me thinking about why we considered the frequent text messages so telling, and here is my conclusion after some 20 seconds of deep analysis: It is nearly impossible for two normal single people to have that much to say through little messages on the phone.
As a single guy, I never sent anyone text messages every day. There's just not enough material. You have to keep it short, so it's not like a letter and yet it needs to be urgent enough to justify a text message. To be able to sustain such a textual relationship, one must necessarily delve into the realm of superfluous, random, pointless messages — sometimes known as the "good morning/good night" SMS.
These messages are of absolutely no use to two people not romantically interested in each other.
Despite the name, they can contain much more than a simple greeting. Rather they present unsolicited content that serves no purpose other than letting the sender reach out and touch someone. Picking up the phone may be a bit daunting and awkward, but a text message provides just enough distance. Friends I discussed this matter with all admitted having sent someone they were interested in similar completely unsolicited messages. "Yawn, so sleepy :o" or "So many ppl in Orchard Road today" or "I feel like a milkshake" were among some examples.
My personal favourite: "Meow. I'm so full."
I don't get what cat noises have to do with it. Whether it means she just ate a cat or whether cats are supposed to have "full" meow, I don't know. But those four words perfectly exemplify what I'm talking about. It provides the receiver no useful information apart from forcing him or her, for a moment at least, to think about you.
All right, if others can invent something that revolutionised courtships, surely I can make more of my dancing picture software. I'll get right to it, after this quick nap to re-energise. Wake me up in an hour... make that an hour 22 minutes.
before i show u guys a video, let me make my comments on this. the following video is by MDA, in an effort to promote themselves. if u have been reading newspaper, u would have read abt the critics on this video. there have been mixed responses, some think it's a good idea, some think it degrade those managerial staff of MDA. hmmmm...
i'm standing on the positive side of the spectrum. i personally think it's a very good effort of MDA to let the public know what they do. they take on a very relaxed method to tell the public something which is something formal, which i think will attract people to watch and listen. imagine instead of this video, they come up with a long list of words to tell you what they do. FAINT. who will read it? so i believe this video is able to achieve its objective of letting the public to understand MDA better.
then there's the response of degrading those management cos acc to the newspaper "some of them obviously feel uncomfortable doing the rap". oh isit??!! i din feel it. maybe they don't look natural, but that doesnt mean they dont enjoy it rite? who r u to judge whether they feel comfortable? did u ask them? did they tell u personally? if not, u are just assuming... yes they are old, but that doesnt mean they must be stern and cant sing cant dance cant rap. take a look at dragonfly! so many uncle n aunties having havoc there. so does it means u dance u rap means u not professional? i doubt so. there's time to be serious, there's time to relax. so what's wrong?
in fact i would think we should applaud them for they effort and creativity to come up with such a video. otherwise we would not have been able to enjoy 4min 34sec of laughters.
duh....who cares how santa laugh... as long as he brings us the presents.. woohoo!
Give Santa a Break!!
SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.
Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.
One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.
"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.
"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.
"Leave Santa alone."
A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself.
was on 176 today at the je library busstop... the bus is not moving because many pple are still waiting to board the bus but as usual, the bus is alr packed with pple... i was at the back of the long bus n listening to my mp3 n reading articles related to my fyp... i was wondering how come the bus is not moving after so long... it turns out tat cos pple still want to board the bus.. then i look ard, a stupid big sized guy in front of me... why did i say stupid? cos there's alot of space behind but he cant move in... he CAN'T not dont want cos 2 women were blocking his way to the back.... ALAMAK! he can't even say "excuse me" ah?!
then the 2 women BEST. i was staring at them n they saw me staring at them n they know why we are all staring at them... guess what they do? they look at each other n giggle then stay put... wah!!! that's my last straw... since they dont understand our body language, i sure speak in their language
"can u move in?" i said that!!! and the whole bus look at me... hahaha!!! ok la i dont feel paiseh cos i'm nt the ones to feel paiseh, is the 2 women... so what if u're gg to alight at the next stop? if u dont move in, the rest cant board the bus, the bus driver will nt drive, u can nv reach ur next bus stop... right?
seriously...
then when i reach my busstop, i nearly couldnt get down the bus cos some pple seem to hv this magnet instill in them tat cause them to be very much attracted to the door... really is stuck to the door like tat de lor...
maybe we shld hv some strong magnets at the back of the bus to attract those pple to the back instead of flooding the exit where pple want to alight...
or shall we get some hunks n babes to dance pole dance at the back so everyone will go to the back to watch the performance???
2nd entry for the day! was waiting for my mum when i saw a strange couple standing in front of jec this afternoon... both hv real short hair... so i took a closer look... OMG! it's a gay couple!!! guy A put his hand ard the guy B's waist who was playing psp... then guy B put his head on guy A's shoulder!!!! JINGBAO or not!!!
and the most most unbelivable thing is... they are both v young! abt 15-17 i think... definitly hasnt experienced ns kind... and they were doing all that in front of JEC... how cool la!
i wonder whether they are just being close or they r really gay... but would any guy do that with ur other guy friend? maybe in private when u're talking abt some matters of the heart, but in the public? in a society like s'pore, i doubt so... i can see some male readers nodding already...
guess how i was feelnig when i saw that? i was laughing... really laughing cos i tot it's so funny... do the young boys really know what is their gender preference at this stage? or they are influenced by the movies screened recently such as brokebacks n ehhh summer wat ah? hahaha i watch until i forgot the title... but u know wat i'm referring to ba...
although those shows are R21 shows, however their promotion effort doesnt stop in the cinema... when they promote the movie, the masses will be reached, including those little kids... so even though they din get to watch the movies, they are already exposed to the idea of homosexuality... and since they r unable to go to the cinema to watch these movies, they became more curious abt tat idea n went on to explore this topic through practical hands-on... if only they are as diligent with their sch work...
n soon, rainie's new show will be here to promote homosexuality too... wat lilies ah... hmm i'm nt so keen to go n watch this movie actaully... i prefer to watch gay movie than les movie.. hahaha!
i'm nt against gays... just that i hope those who are gay are genuinely gay (meaning they really like male n nt female) but not because they are influenced by the movies n the idea of being in time with the trend of being gay (as promoted by the many such movies produced in the last few yrs)
be brave to fight for ur love, it's nt ashame to be gay... but if u're really nt a gay, pls dont be a gay... otherwise i'll hv less choices to choose from...
our pm announce that he will donate all his pay increment to charities (but i dont know he refer to 1mth, 1 yr or forever la...) though i din sit through the news to listen to his rationale for doing so, but my guess is he want to tell the public that the call for increase in pay of the public sector is nt becos the minister desire the money, but because they think it's time to adjust their pay in view of the growing economy... and also to attract young and capable pple to enter the ageing political scene in singapore...
first of all, i must say it's so sad that most of the ministers are so old liao... haiz... and u see the same few pple playing musical chairs all these while, they just rotate their positions once in a while...
regarding the pay increment... hmm when i first heard abt it i was like oh, so good... i'm nt very sure when was the last increment they had.. do they increase their pay every yr like what most pte sector do?(though pte sector hv it every yr, but the percentage is so low, it's miserable)... so why are some pple so against the increment? isit really nt justified for the public sector to increase they pay? or r they being envy? but they are also working mah... so shouldnt we reward them for the work they do? or isit u feel that they are nt doing a good job so they dont deserve the increment? if it's of their poor performance, then maybe it's due to ineffective evaluating and reward system... u know ah the OA of an organisation is a 3-legged stool... evaluate, empowerment and reward/punishment... if a yr2 uni student like me know this, how can it be that the lawyers and accountants up there not know?
i agree with most of the readers' recommendations to peg the increment and bonus the employee receive... do a BSC for MOE, MOH and so on... woohoo! who knows, next sem maybe chan ai lin (that's if she's still the coordinator) may pull some stunts and make the students do a bsc for a public sector... not bad ah... so when they perform well, i suppose those who are against the increment will shut up.
i dont know whether to support this pay increment simply because i dont know enough abt what is happening...so to prevent making an unjustified stand, i shall nt take side... but one thing is, if public sector's pay is comparable to private sector's pay, i'll definitely go for the public sector... u receive the same amt of pay n in addition give u a steel rice bowl.. y nt? then the private sector will increase their pay cos they will say the public sector attracted all the talented pple leaving them w no choice but to increase the wage to attract the talented pple... oh manz... then i'll go to the private sector.. then the public sector pay increase again to match the private sector...
moral of the story?
do away with the steel rice bowl and maybe the increment in wages will be justified...
just finished my proj discussion... i must say that this is the best i can do le... i totally no more energy to chiong liao... i'm thankful that this is my last proj of the sem...
it feels like running a marathon... long n tedious...n this is the final 200m and i'm already half dead... using all the energy (all the chi nai de li!) to run this final lap...
exams coming.. what can be more depressing than tat??? went to collect the case for one of my paper... yeah we receive the case prior to the exam... cool rite...
anw, i was reading ST forum and a lady wrote in to defend for students who took part in the arena, the debating show on chnl 5. it's said that the United world college is able to beat all the top schools in singapore, what does tat reflect abt s'pore's so-call top students? they are uncomparable to those foreign schools students?
the lady said that isit our fault of students for being not good enough? or should we seriously relook at the way we're educated?
i almost raise both my hands and legs when i read the part which she said in primary school, we were taught to keep quiet and listen to teachers. talking in class means u're a bad student. remember the times when we were asked to put a finger on our lips to make us not talk? silence was the best policy. and the silence stayed with us for 6 years.
in secondary and JC, we were suddenly asked to speak up. teachers start to complain when they dont students speaking up. but how can they blame us for not speaking up when we've been trained to remain silence for 6 golden years??? pri sch makes up the foundation years which will shape one's learning habits. so how to expect us to speak up after keeping silence for so many years?
there's been many changes done to today's education system, but the way knowledge is being passed down at the primary lvl is stil not v well developed from my perspective. maybe i'm not well informed of the system since i've grad for almost 10 yrs le... but i feel that it's a v important aspect which MOE should look into because it is the foundation of our lifelong learning process.
also, MOE has tried so many ways to simplify the educational system such that i think the certificate we're getting now is depreciating in value...so now having a degree isn't that great after all... u'll need a masters of phd in order to differentiate yourself... but if that's so,we'll spend more n more time in schools than the actual time we spend working... it doesn't make economical sense to do so... n frankly speaking, who needs a phd to do well in a coporate setting? experience counts more than the cert in this case...
i wanted to take biz cos i want to learn something which i think will be useful for me to apply outside the school setting... but apparently, bulk of what i'm learning now will nt be applicable at all... who the hell do BSC anw... definetly not a marketer's work... but i think i must say the uni prof did a better job in encouraging student to speak up... but sometimes i think they r v fed up w us esp when they ask for response n there's none... think of ben...
so, back to the arena. yes we lost the debate game to UWC. that's v disheartening.. but instead of blaming the students for their lost (which is like a big blow to them already), y nt shift our finger to the people who moulded them for who they are today?
